I think it does. But I want to hear from you folks so I have a sense of how much interest there really is.
Here's the event as I'm envisioning it:
It won't be a conventional ficathon, but a "claim a prompt and write it" kind of thing. Both BtVS and AtS would be included, and gen, het, girlslash, and boyslash would all be welcome.
On January 1, 2007, the challenge would open for prompts (for which I would provide a rubric). People would have two weeks to post prompts, with each person being allowed to post up to three. Posting prompts would not require you to write a story.
From January 15-22, anyone who wants to write would claim a prompt (only one prompt per person, though I would allow two people to claim the same prompt if they wanted).
January 23, the claim period would close and the writing would begin.
Stories would be due Saturday, March 3 (ten years to the day from the airing of "Welcome to the Hellmouth").
My hope is that the challenge would produce lots of shiny new Buffyverse fic with relatively low pressure for all concerned. It's not a fic exchange, so the usual ficathon angst would, I hope, be absent. Every story would be a gift to the fandom at large, not to a specific person. No pinch-hitting, no guilt if you have to drop out, no fretting over whether you can fit your story exactly to the recipient's taste. Just a chance to celebrate shows we loved. (And, I hope, an enticement for writers who've mostly moved on to other fandoms to revisit the Buffyverse with one more story.)
And that's it! On to the poll.
Would you be interested in participating in the challenge as I've outlined it above? (Your answer here does not commit you to participate.)
I'd be grateful if you would pimp this poll in your journals; I want to reach as many potential writers and readers as possible.
